I wanted to take a few moments to say “thank you” for the wonderful program you have so carefully designed. My daughter, who is 6.5 years old, struggled with basic math concepts until we started Right Start. She is now excited about math and doing very well. She considers math her most favorite homeschooling lesson.

I like Right Start for the following reasons: the lessons are carefully and meaningfully organized into daily plans, it utilizes multiple styles of manipulatives for those tactile learners (and montessori-loving mothers), the lessons challenge but don’t defeat the child, I appreciate the “warm up” lessons to ‘pound the peg’ of understanding and
memory for certain rote work like skip counting or month-learning, and your curriculum incorporates many games (that I believe all children love and learn from).

No praise could be taken seriously without some constructive words. If I were to make any changes in the Lesson book, I would remind the teacher to play the math card games on a weekly basis (I often time forget until my daughter requests a certain game).

I have to say that in the beginning of the year, I almost didn’t begin the curriculum because it looked totally overwhelming. I soon realized that all of the “words” on each lesson page was NOT work but explanations of the work to be done. For those teacher-mothers who can feel overwhelmed, perhaps a different font could be used for those words actually spoken to the child and those words directed toward the parent.

We are now on Lesson 55 of Level B and have had no difficulty completing most lessons in 1 day. In the beginning, I was scared to move forward with Lessons because I wasn’t certain if the content would be reviewed again. After a month or so, I began to find that balance and started trusting the curriculum so if she almost had “it” mastered, I would move ahead. I have never been let down!

Thank you so much for providing this curriculum (it is the 3rd one we have tried during my two years of homeschooling and I can’t imagine ever desiring a change). I am so grateful!

My daughter is 7 and this is our 2nd year to use RightStart Math. She is in 2nd grade and is adding and subtracting 4 digits numbers with trading like it is nothing. She also can do her multiplications. The most amazing thing is that when she is somewhere and has to spend her money she is quick to tell them how much change she needs back. I have seen a lot of teenagers and adults who cannot do thi… Read more

My daughter is in 4th grade this year. Math has always been a struggle for her, as it was for her father. I discovered that she has dyslexia (which is hereditary). I didn’t realize that had any effect on math, but I found out that people with dyslexia cannot learn with rote memorization or sequential skills. This makes it harder for them to remember math facts or how to do algorithms. Before I kne… Read more
