Description
Instead of memorizing formulas and equations, Videotext Algebra helps students to understand math through mastery learning, helping them to solidify each concept before moving on the next. A copy of the print materials needed for this module is included along with DVD instructions.
It is generally understood that the study of Algebra is the study of relations. Relations of first-degree should be mastered first and are addressed in this Module A. In fact, as instructors, we all understand that relations of any degree other than one must be “reduced” to relations of first-degree, or “factored” into linear or first-degree factors, before they can be resolved. The impact of this understanding on the scope and sequence of Algebra content, is to organize the various types of relations, by degree. In this course, first-degree relations are examined exhaustively before higher-order relations are encountered.
Videotext Algebra Module A covers:
- Mathematics as a Language (Parts of Speech, Expressions, Translations)
- More on Numbers [Number System, Fraction & Decimal, Equivalent Forms (1 & 2), Percent, Primes & Composites, Least Common Multiple, Greatest Common Factor)
- More on Operations (Order, Properties (1 & 2), Fractions (1, 2, & 3), Decimals, Signed Numbers (1, 2, 3, & 4)]
- More on Relations, [Order, Properties (1 & 2)]
- Models (Sets, Functions)
