Customer Care and Convention Reps

Debbie

Customer Care and Conventions

Debbie, who started teaching her children at home in 1993, has six children and currently three grandchildren.  In school Debbie did well in math so thought teaching it would be easy. Wrong! What she realized is that while she could do math, she didn’t understand it enough to help her children when they didn’t understand. She tried multiple math curricula in her search for understanding. After attending a RightStart presentation at a local home school book fair, Debbie made one of the best decisions in her homeschool journey and transitioned three of her children into Level E and started her two youngest in Level B.

As she taught her children with RightStart, she too found herself understanding and being able to apply concepts which opened up a love for math that she didn’t know she had. She has taught all the RightStart Levels and currently attends conferences so she can share her love for RightStart with others looking for a math curriculum. She assists RightStart with their Facebook pages and teaches classes for the online Level G and Level H classes. Debbie also teaches American History and Civics to middle-school students at a homeschooling outsource school in Texas, works with the youth at her church as well as mentoring some of the ladies too. In her free time she loves photography, reading, researching and doing puzzles. She can be reached at [email protected].

Allison

Customer Care and Conventions

Allison is the mother of two wonderful children and has been homeschooling for 5 years. Prior to homeschooling she graduated from Roanoke College, VA with a Bachelors of Science in Physical Education. Allison taught in public schools in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Louisiana. Being a military spouse she moved every two years and realized homeschooling would provide a more stable education for her children.
Allison currently uses RightStart for her own children. She also teaches classes for the online Level G and Level H classes. When she isn’t working for RightStart she enjoys volunteering in her community where she runs a homeschool group and coaches various sports. She also enjoys board games, hiking, and Disney.

She can be reached at [email protected].

Robin

Customer Care and Conventions

Robin is a homeschool mom who, prior to using RightStart Math with her two boys, struggled with math. Like so many people, she knew enough to “get by” but didn’t really understand math. Many “Eureka!” moments happened as she taught using RightStart. She loved RightStart so much she began working at their booth at homeschool conventions and even joined their customer care team! In addition to homeschooling, she works part time at her church in the children’s ministry. When Robin is not tending to her many responsibilities, you can find her in some cozy spot reading a good book and sipping a cup of tea! Robin may be reached at [email protected].

Suzanne

Customer Care and Conventions

Over the past 20+ years, Suzanne’s experience as an educator has taken her from the classroom to one-on-one tutoring to homeschooling her own four kids, giving her experience in many different learning styles and environments. As a RightStart representative, she really enjoys helping other homeschool parents be encouraged in their journey.  With a degree in secondary education, she is a life-long learner, avid reader, and French enthusiast.  She lives in the great state of Maine with her pastor husband and kids.  When she’s ready to get her nose out of the books, she loves to cycle and cross-country ski. She may be reached at [email protected].

Beth

Customer Care and Conventions

Beth never thought she would work for a math company. Although she was reasonably good at math in school, her first love was literature. She completed just the bare minimum of required math courses in secondary school; she chose the arts route for post-secondary, gathering bachelors and masters degrees in literature and languages; and then she went on to work at a library. Once she had children, Beth decided to homeschool. Her first child proved to be a solidly left-brained learner and a natural at math. A friend recommended RightStart Mathematics for him, and right away they were hooked; she loved the way that the curriculum matched up with how her son was already thinking about math.

Beth’s next child proved to be a solidly right-brained learner who didn’t think about math much at all! Yet RightStart turned out to be an excellent fit for her as well, because it trained her to think mathematically, and to have fun while doing it. Two more children followed, one a typical learner and another with significant delays and learning differences.  Beth’s children now range in age from 6-12 years old and she is loving using RightStart with all of them.

Beth and her family live on a country road not too far from Kingston, Ontario, Canada.  Beth enjoys reading, going for runs in the country, and trying new recipes — both cooking them and eating them!

She can be reached at [email protected].

Rhonda

Customer Care

Rhonda homeschooled her daughter from pre-school through high school.  In the early years, she enjoyed researching homeschool models and curricula, but choosing a math program left her in a quandary until a friend highly recommended RightStart Math.  Soon after, she and her daughter jumped into Level B and began a wonderful adventure of learning, understanding and applying mathematics.

Math was challenging for her daughter, but RightStart gave her little girl freedom within boundaries.  She was free to succeed at her own pace and free to think outside of a box all while learning the RightStart way of doing math.  This laid the foundation for “understanding” the math required in high school science classes.

Rhonda studied Elementary Education at St. Vincent College, Music Education at West Chester University and Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.  She is trained in Musikgarten, a Montessori based early childhood music and movement program.  She and her family live in Texas where she teaches piano.

She can be reached at [email protected].

Kerry

Online classes and Conventions

Kerry is a devoted mother of four and passionate advocate for homeschooling, with a particular focus on learning styles. She’s been using RightStart Math since 2010 and believes in fostering a love for math through hands-on, engaging methods. A lifelong lover of books, Kerry enjoys reading and discovering new titles to share with others. Along with her husband, she runs a charming bookshop/coffeehouse, where they create a warm, welcoming space for the local community. When she’s not teaching, reading, or managing the shop, Kerry loves to travel and explore new places with her family. She may be reached at [email protected].

Leana

Conventions

Leana and her husband started homeschooling nine years ago. When they first decided to homeschool, they attended a local homeschool conference with a goal of finding a math curriculum that they liked. After much research they settled on RightStart and haven’t looked back. One of the greatest parts of teaching with RightStart for Leana was that, even though she did fairly well in math herself, she was learning things with her kids and is really understanding math. She has also been able to watch how each of her four daughters has benefited from RightStart even with their different personalities and learning styles. With her oldest just finishing level G, she loves watching the critical thinking that has come from RightStart show itself in higher level maths and even other subjects.

Leana and her family live in Calgary, Alberta Canada. When she’s not teaching her girls she can be found outside somewhere shooting archery, camping, gardening, snowshoeing… whatever the weather allows.

Eve

Conventions

Eve has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from N.C. State. She has been using RightStart Math since 2005. After briefly trying another curriculum, she ran across RightStart Math. After looking into the program, she knew RSM was the way she wanted to pass on her love for mathematics to her children. She and her husband have three children. The youngest will begin Level G this coming school year, the middle child is the maker of the Place Value Card Holders and Base Ten Card Holders, and the oldest is in college. Eve can be reached at [email protected].

What our Customers Are Saying

Thank you so much for your RightStart Math Curriculum. I have been using it for 3 years with my son and my daughter is beginning her second year. I love the strategies you use for teaching math and the lessons are fun to teach.

My daughter is 7 and this is our 2nd year to use RightStart Math. She is in 2nd grade and is adding and subtracting 4 digits numbers with trading like it is nothing. She also can do her multiplications. The most amazing thing is that when she is somewhere and has to spend her money she is quick to tell them how much change she needs back. I have seen a lot of teenagers and adults who cannot do thi… Read more

My daughter is in 4th grade this year. Math has always been a struggle for her, as it was for her father. I discovered that she has dyslexia (which is hereditary). I didn’t realize that had any effect on math, but I found out that people with dyslexia cannot learn with rote memorization or sequential skills. This makes it harder for them to remember math facts or how to do algorithms. Before I kne… Read more
